Background information: | Mouse monoclonal anti-SMRT antibody, clone 1SM-1E7 recognize human SMRT. SMRT/NCOR2 is a nuclear receptor that mediates the transcriptional repression, thus facilitates transcriptional silencing. It is also known as the silencing mediator of retinoic acid & thyroid hormone receptor protein. This repressor has been investigated as a biomarker to predict medical care efficacy in estrogen receptor positive breast cancer patients. It is also an element of the N-Cor repressor, a multi-subunit complex composed of NCOR1, NCOR2, HDAC3, TBL1X, TBL1R, CORO2A and GPS2. NCOR2/SMRT acts as a platform protein, helping the recruitment of histone deacetylases to the DNA promoters bound through its interacting transcription factors. |
