Background information: | Mouse monoclonal antibody to Heterochromatin Protein-1 β, clone 1MOD-1A9 is specific for Hp1b protein from mouse and human. The family of heterochromatin protein 1 consists mainly of highly conserved proteins which have essential role in the cell nucleus. These roles involve transcriptional activation, regulation of binding of cohesion complexes to centromeres, gene repression by heterochromatin formation etc. The protein may play a fundamental role in the epigenetic control of chromatin structure and gene expression. |
