| Background information: | Mouse monoclonal antibody to histone H4, clone 3HH4â€4G8 is specific for histone H4 from human and mouse. Histones proteins are implicated in the structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. The protein has a main domain and a long N-terminal tail, H4 is involved with the structure of the nucleosome. Histone proteins are hugely post-translationally modified. The covalently linked modifications include acetylation and methylation of N-terminal tails. These modifications might change expression of genes found on DNA connected with its parent histone octamer. Histone H4 is an essential protein in the structure and function of chromatin, where its variants of sequence and variable changes are considered to play a role in the dynamic and long-term regulation of genes. |
