Background information: | Mouse monoclonal antibody to human histone H3, clone 1HH3-3E1 has been validated in ELISA, WB, IC and IP. Histone H3 is one of the five fundamental histone proteins implicated in the structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. The protein has a main domain and a long N-terminal tail, H3 is involved with the structure of the nucleosome. Histones assume a focal part in transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication and chromosomal stability. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 exceeds the globular structure of the nucleosome and can undergo different types of post-translational modifications that will affect various cellular processes. The most well-defined modifications concern the attachment of methyl or acetyl groups to lysine or arginine and phosphorylation of a serine or threonine. |
