Product description: | Antigen Retriever is used for staining or to upgrade staining of formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues. It has a wide range of application particularly in immunohistochemistry. Antigen Retriever 2100 is entirely automated. The heating pressure and the duration of the cycle for routine formalin-fixed and paraffin embedded tissues is controlled by a chip inside the device. |
How does it work: | Antigen Retriever is similar to a pressure cooker. A microchip within the device dictates the heating profile. The heating profile is verified and validated for each individual unit of the Retriever during the production. Similarly, the temperature and the pressure to be reached at a certain pace at a certain time are under the control of specific sensors. Once the system reaches the required temperature, it stays at that temperature for several minutes. Then, the slides go through a cooling step for 2 hours. Special thermal walls control the cooling speed of the inner chamber and the slides. It is worth noting that the cooling step is important, among others, to prevent proteins from re-folding. |
Applications: | Antigen Retriever is often used for thermal slide processing of formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissues prior to immunostaining. The model is designed to ensure identical processing of all samples. Antigen Retriever can be used to: - Obtain equivalent results every time even in experiments that are achieved months apart - Run antigen unmasking in up to 6 different buffers in one cycle - Recover the epitope involved for a strong staining while preserving the tissue and cell morphology - Use either standard Citrate or EDTA buffers, or our buffers - Use a minimal portion of the processing buffer |
Product advantages over other products: | Advantages of Antigen retriever 2100 vs Tinto retriever pressure cooker:⢠Better performance-price ratio ⢠Lighter materials (aluminum): Antigen Retriever 2100 weights 4.5 kg VS 5.7kg for Tinto Retriever ⢠Higher adjustability: It possible to run 108 slides at once with Antigen Retriever vs 96 slides for Tinto Retriever Advantages of using Antigen Retriever vs microwave/pressure cooker:⢠Deliver uniform results: There is no cold zone effect which is common to microwave processing where some of the sections are heated less than others. ⢠Reproducibility: With Antigen Retriever, all sections are uniformly processed and at the same time. There are no cycle variations. It is possible to compare the sections within a gap of several months (and even years). All the key steps are standardized (heating of the sections, exposure to high pressure, exposure to high temperature and cooling) are standardized. ⢠Delivers high quality results: Antigen Retriever preserves the tissue morphology, thus resulting in significantly improved tissue images. ⢠Good price:performance ratio- 2100 Antigen Retriever was designed for research groups and small pathology labs including research centers that may be operating on tight budget. ⢠User-friendly: The modus operandi of Antigen Retriever is quite simple and practical. It is possible to use up to 6 various buffers at once. ⢠High computability: According to the buffer used, Antigen Retriever can be used for different applications such as epitope recovery or antigen unmasking. ⢠High reliability: In comparison to microwave or pressure cooker, Antigen Retriever is more robust, more reliable and safer. The Retriever is designed to handle uninterrupted work for many years without technical issues. |
