It has been shown that the glycoproteins GP V and GPIb-GP IX form a noncovalent complex in the platelet membrane. The monoclonal antibody does not react with lymphocytes, granulocytes, monocytes and erythrocytes. Antigen is expressed on human platelets and megakaryocytes. The antigen is absent or present in very low levels on platelets of patients with the Bernard-Soulier syndrome. |
